Purpose of the position:

The Accounting Manager oversees key accounting processes, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards while delivering accurate financial reporting. This role coordinates with internal teams, outsourced partners, auditors, and authorities, acting as a subject matter expert on accounting matters.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform significant accounting processes related to strategically important and/or high complexity areas that are not outsourced.
  • Oversee and control assigned accounting processes in order to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, accounting standards, or internal policies.
  • Understand, assess and interpret changes in relevant laws, regulations and accounting standards. Consult with external advisors or internal experts as required. Develop or manage the development of accounting assessments. Establish and implement the necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with, coordinate and manage both outsourced teams and internal departments to ensure timely, accurate and efficient financial reporting for both group and statutory reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate assigned workstreams within the external financial reporting of the Wizz Air Group.
  • Manage statutory financial statement preparation process with the external service provider.
  • Liaise with, coordinate and manage the collaboration with external auditors
  • Keep contact with authorities and statistical offices. Coordinate requests within the broader organization.
  • Act as the first point of contact and accounting subject matter expert in case of assigned responsibilities within the organization.
  • Support other departments within Finance on interpreting actuals and on accounting procedures.
  • Contribute to or drive and manage IT system developments. Specify the accounting requirements or design, validate and test the functionalities.
  • Contribute to or manage cross-functional collaborations.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar (e.g., B.S. in Business with a major in Accounting) Masters of Accountancy and/or MBA is preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, inclusive of roles with increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
  • Effective presentation skills for communication with top management, field leadership, and/or Boards of Directors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with international staff who do not use English as their first language
  • Result-oriented, persistent, dependable, and consistent
  • Self-motivated and proactive, willing to take initiative and shoulder responsibility.
